About Pick Nick’s Brain

Hi! My name is Nicole Johnson, and I am a 34-year-old married mother of two wonderful boys.

Baby sleep? Why Pick Nick’s Brain?

When my eldest was a baby, he had a lot of sleep problems! “Sleep like a baby?” Yeah right! You better hope you never sleep like my baby did! He would wake up every 1-2 hours all night long. We had to do soooo much to get him to sleep! So, I dived into numerous books and scientific reports on the study of infant and toddler sleep. I spent hours researching what kinds of sleeping methods are available as well as the pros and cons of each one. I added to my own sleep deprivation in an attempt to get my son on the road to healthy, happy sleep. I devoured everything and once I helped my baby sleep, I made it my mission to help other parents solve their child’s sleep problems, too.

I used my new knowledge to lead an Internet-based message board. I helped countless parents overcome their own sleeping challenges much quicker and faster than I had, and the feedback was incredible. Everyone seemed so grateful for my advice, and many parents urged me to write a book on the subject. However, since another full-length book is hardly what busy, tired parents need, I decided to tailor my services to busy parents by incorporating an e-book and my customized consultation packages.

Unfortunately, some people think babies grow out of it only to find they have a 6 year old who still wakes up at night and studies have found adults with sleep problems that trace back to their childhood. Heck, I’m not the best sleeper either and I vowed not to pass that onto my children, if I can help it. My son is now a good sleeper.

Let me assure you. Those of you with “easy” babies or those children that just grab a pillow off the couch when they’re sleepy and lay down will find this site VERY boring. You won’t ever understand what the big deal is. This is for those parents who are “at their wits end” who can’t get their child to sleep without standing on one foot in a field of daisies with the wind blowing West or for those parents with decent sleepers, but know they could be better. I hope you will find my information helpful and to know you are not alone and know that you, too, can have a baby who sleeps!

I’m not an “expert” – nor am I doctor. I am simply a mother who was faced with a problem parents all over the world face. I found a way to overcome the sleeping issues in my home without sacrificing who we are as a family, and I developed a way to share it with struggling parents everywhere.

My analytical mind allows me to develop realistic advice, my thoughtfulness and thoroughness help me understand your unique situation, my firmness gets you on the road to making changes, and my services offer you the support you need to see your challenge through to the end. I never offer one-size-fits-all advice or pass judgment on your parenting philosophies. I incorporate who you are and what your child is undergoing to create a unique service. Call me your cliffs notes.
